American
English Structure!
American English, if one can call it that, especially as used by some advertisers, makes the practice of double-speak, i.e., using a two tongued approach into an art of almost Admirable Honest Deceit.
Take for example, PCS STAMPS & COINS of 47 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06857 1-877-926-3734 www.pcscoins.com who write as follows; “This collection can be yours for $109.90 plus $5 shipping and service per coin, payable in two monthly installments of $57.45 each.”. $57.45 x 2 = $114.90. $109.00 + $5 = $114.90. So ordinary UK English indicates that the word each refers to “This collection”.
Indeed Yes, they do go on to say, “One coin will be shipped every other month until you own the complete 36 coin collection”.
Since 114.90 X 36 = $4136.40, is not immediately observable. In my own considered opinion, they are practicing the art of deceitful double speak. This double speak scam ought not to be legally allowed.
Governor Mike Dunleavy of Alaska and each State Governor should cancel the PCS license to practice their deceitful business (arts) in their respective states.
Though British English is said to be, one of the most difficult of all languages, given some deep and thorough thought to its structure, its use can be easily understood.
